Max Shapiro

Intern

Max Shapiro is an intern at the Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance where she channels her passion for economic development into actions aimed at attracting businesses to the area. Her enthusiasm lies in mastering the financial and social dynamics critical to fostering economic growth.

In 2023, Max graduated Cum Laude from Santa Fe Preparatory School. Currently, she is a rising sophomore at Georgetown University, pursuing a B.S. in Science, Technology, and International Affairs with a concentration in Biotechnology and Global Health, alongside a minor in Finance. Her interdisciplinary studies reflect her commitment to understanding the intersection of technology and finance on a global scale.

Max’s dedication to economic policy and development is underscored by her diverse experience. She has worked for a consulting firm on justice system reforms to keep families together by overcoming language barriers and engaged with policy labs analyzing global health financing. These roles have sharpened her analytical skills and deepened her understanding of the intricate complexities involved in economic development and financial planning, particularly in how policy can drive economic stability and growth.

Having spent most of her life in New Mexico, Max has a deep-rooted connection to the region and is excited to leverage her skills to support AREA in making impactful decisions. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, baking, and spending time with friends, which provide her with a balanced lifestyle and creative outlet.
