Alfonso “AJ” Leggette

Director of Business Development

Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance (AREA)

Alfonso “A.J.” Leggette is an emerging economic development leader with experience spanning both rural and urban economic development. His experience includes site selection, business recruitment, site development, and special marketing campaigns. Since beginning his career in economic development, AJ has worked alongside numerous companies through the site selection process, ranging from mobility, life sciences and advanced manufacturing to professional and technical services. AJ is passionate about building meaningful relationships, developing lasting partnerships, and creating opportunities that positively impact the communities he serves.

Originally from South Carolina, prior to joining the Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance, AJ worked for the Greenville Area Development Corporation and Florence County Economic Development Partnership, giving him experience working in two very different markets across South Carolina.

Outside of work, AJ is an active community member and advocate. He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a Board Member of the Francis Marion University Alumni Association, and is involved with various other community organizations. AJ is a graduate of Francis Marion University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science.
