LEADING THE WAY
Phil Campagna
President
Yearout Mechanical
Phil Campagna, the President of Yearout Mechanical, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for excellence to his role as well as the industry as a whole. Raised in the small town of Long Beach, Indiana, on the Lake Michigan shoreline, Phil’s journey began with a strong educational foundation. He attended Brother Rice High School in Chicago’s Catholic league and later graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Construction Management.
Phil’s career spans 25 years, marked by numerous milestones and a variety of job titles. He has held positions such as Project Engineer, Project Manager, Estimator, Director of Estimating, Pre-Construction Director, and Vice President. Phil spent 10 years in the ultra-fast-paced high-rise casino construction industry in Las Vegas, NV, further enhancing his expertise and adaptability in challenging environments. These roles have shaped his expertise and leadership style, allowing him to make significant contributions to several top ENR rated firms, including Southland Industries, Hansen Mechanical (an Emcor company), and Brandt Mechanical in Dallas. These experiences allowed him to learn from some of the industry’s best mentors and hone his skills before joining family-owned Yearout Mechanical.
At Yearout, Phil’s initial mission was to grow the design-build side of the business and prepare Kevin Yearout’s sons to eventually take over the company. However, when the boys chose different paths, a new chapter unfolded, leading to the acquisition of the company by private equity firm Blackstone. Phil was then asked to lead the business, a role he embraced with dedication. He is passionate about creating opportunities for employees so they can maximize their potential while maintaining a relentless focus on fostering a strong safety culture within the organization.
Phil is deeply committed to living the company’s mission: to be invaluable to their partners—clients, vendors, industry, and employees—so they cannot imagine success without Yearout Mechanical.
Outside of his professional life, Phil is a dedicated father and husband. He is also an automotive enthusiast, avid chess player, fly fisherman, and a lifelong, albeit self-proclaimed, bad golfer.
