LEADING THE WAY

Like any successful company, great leadership and vision allows AREA to achieve its mission year after year.

Benjamin Gardner

Dekker/Perich/Sabatini

Benjamin inherited his philosophy of craftmanship from his father, a builder and sculptor. He believes that a project should be carefully finished in places both seen and unseen. As chief executive officer, he applies that same attention to detail to firmwide strategy and operations.

With a combined background in architecture and construction, Benjamin brings a robust understanding of the issues faced by clients, partners, and communities. His mission is to give staff continuous opportunities for personal and professional growth. By exploring new ventures and bold ideas, he seeks to extend and expand the firm’s legacy. As CEO/Principal/Architect of Dekker/Perich/Sabatini, Benjamin acts as a trusted resource for collaborators and works to strengthen community bonds. He is most fulfilled by seeing employees succeed. In addition to his role with AREA, his service on the board of Explora, a science center and children’s museum in Albuquerque, allows him to further his social impact while honing his strategic skills.

Benjamin’s leadership is enriched by a long history of developing his family-owned properties. He is particularly proud of a Montessori preschool and elementary academy co-founded with his wife. When he’s not at the office, he enjoys woodworking – and will often be found fixing chairs, tables, and blocks for the Montessori school. Still brimming with creativity, Benjamin sends his daughters a new drawing every day.
