Space Infrastructure Startup Mantis Space Selects Albuquerque for Headquarters and Manufacturing Hub

Mantis Space’s facility will create more than 200 high-wage jobs and generate over $480 million in economic impact

Kennesaw, GA, and Albuquerque, NM (December 8, 2025) — Mantis Space, a space and advanced energy startup developing the first power grid in space, today announced its selection of Albuquerque, New Mexico, for its headquarters and advanced R&D manufacturing facilities.

Founded in Kennesaw, Georgia, by space industry veterans and backed by venture studio partner Montauk Capital, the company is building orbital infrastructure to deliver power directly to on-orbit assets, such as satellites, habitats, and lunar operations. The announcement comes as the company prepares to fully emerge from stealth early next year.

Orbital infrastructure is expected to support space-economy growth well beyond the $1 trillion mark by the early 2030s and open the door to off-planet data centers and manufacturing, with significant global environmental benefits.

Mantis Space’s planned facilities, projects, and staff are estimated to generate over $480 million in economic impact for the City of Albuquerque and the State of New Mexico over the next decade. The company plans to create more than 200 local high-tech, high-wage jobs, averaging over $180,000 per year, helping attract additional space companies and highly skilled talent to the area.

The company’s selection of Albuquerque followed a highly competitive national search. In exploring options around the U.S., the Mantis Space founding team evaluated quality of life, access to talent, proximity to potential customers and supply chain, and available economic incentives, with Albuquerque ultimately beating out the competition. The company will receive a $2.5 million LEDA award from the state and $500,000 from the city.
