International Economic Development Council Elects New Vice Chair of the External Member Relations Committee
Danielle Casey, CEcD, EDFP to Begin Serving Tenure as Vice Chair of the External Member Relations Committee in January.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Nominating Committee of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has elected Danielle Casey, CEcD, EDFP, President of Albuquerque Economic Development, Inc., to serve as Vice Chair of the External Member Relations Committee of the IEDC Board of Directors. The process took place during the annual board meeting on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at IEDC’s 2021 Annual Conference in Nashville, TN. The upcoming term begins on January 1, 2022.
“We look forward to Casey’s leadership as Vice Chair of the External Member Relations Committee,” said 2021 IEDC Board Chair and President and CEO of Invest Buffalo Niagara, Tom Kucharski. “Their new leadership role will ensure great accomplishments in 2022 and beyond.”

The External and Member Relations Committee is responsible for clarifying IEDC’s desired public image in the eyes of key stakeholders and for overseeing the formulation of strategies to promote IEDC’s image. It is also responsible for recommending policy positions in the governmental relations and legislative arena.

Ms. Casey is celebrating her one-year anniversary as President and CEO of AED this month, having been selected for the role following a competitive national search. She brings extensive and diverse experience in leadership, public administration, marketing, business development and retention, and strategic planning to the organization and since her arrival has already accomplished significant next steps for the organization such as the creation of a five-year Strategic Plan for economic growth and recovery. Previously, she served as the Executive Vice President for the Greater Sacramento Economic Council but got her start in Arizona serving in the City of Maricopa as its first economic development director and assistant city manager, and later as Economic Development Director for the City of Scottsdale. She is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and a certified Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) and has served on the Board of the International Economic Development Council since 2017.
