ABQ SUNPORT ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL RETURNING FLIGHT, EXPANDED SERVICE
Flight postponed during COVID set to resume, another popular route increases frequency, passenger traffic continues to rise

ALBUQUERQUE — The Albuquerque International Sunport continues to regain lost flights and additional frequency as it recovers from the impacts of COVID-19. The most recent updates to airline operations include Delta Air Lines resuming direct, non-stop service between the Sunport and Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) in Minnesota. That service will begin June 5 and tickets are on sale now.

In addition, jetBlue is increasing the frequency of its popular non-stop flight to JFK Airport in New York City. As of last week, the flight schedule increased from two to four times per week. That flight will move to daily service from mid-June to July, then back to five times per week through the end of summer. Tickets are on sale now.

“These updates are perfect examples of what we’ve been working towards with respect to our COVID recovery,” said Nyika Allen, Director of Aviation for the City of Albuquerque. “We’re now back to offering 21 direct flights to destinations throughout the country, which is great news for everyone who’s ready to book a long-awaited summer vacation.”

In recent weeks, the Sunport has seen its highest levels of passenger traffic since before the pandemic began. The most recent seven-day average is 10,237, up 365% over 2020, and down 40% compared to pre-pandemic levels. At the height of the pandemic, traffic was down as much as 97%.
