ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONALS ADVISORY COUNCIL

This Advisory Council will establish goals and priorities in relation to aligning local and regional economic development strategies, and will explore best practices programs in communities across the country as potential future models of success.

A JOB WORTH DOING IS WORTH DOING IT TOGETHER

The Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance’s Economic Development Professionals Advisory Council is a collaborative group of economic development professionals representing communities within and adjacent to the greater Albuquerque metro area. The Chair of the Economic Development Professionals Advisory Council will be elected by its members annually and submitted for recommendation to the AREA Board of Directors for a one-year appointment to the AREA Board.

COUNCIL EXPERTISE

Members of the Economic Development Professional Advisory Council represent communities within the region and state that have made a commitment to supporting regional economic development approaches.

COUNCIL LEADERSHIP

CHAIR

Dora Dominguez is the Business and Economic Development Director for Sandoval County.

Prior to joining Sandoval County, Dominguez’s past roles included: Senior Economic Developer for the City of Albuquerque, Director of Office of Business Advocacy for the State of New Mexico Economic Development Department, and served as a Community, Business, and Rural Development Representative for the New Mexico Economic Development Department, where she staffed state initiatives for Region 7 which includes; Dona Ana, Lincoln, Otero and Sierra Counties and for Region 6 which included; Chaves, Curry, DeBaca, Eddy, Lea and Roosevelt Counties.

Dominguez earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication: Journalism and Political Science, from Eastern New Mexico University and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. She also holds state certification from the University of New Mexico as court mediator and has completed the IEDC course of study for economic development professionals.

VICE CHAIR

Kristen Gamboa is an Economic Development Specialist for the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM).

Prior to joining PNM, Gamboa’s past roles included: Senior Economic Developer for the Village of Los Lunas and Director of Business Development for the New Mexico Partnership.

Gamboa graduated Cum Laude from Grand Canyon University with a Master’s Degree in Psychology with an Emphasis in General Psychology, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University. Gamboa also holds Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an Emphasis in International Management from the University of New Mexico and an Associate’s degree in Integrated Studies from
