Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance welcomes dynamic group of consultants to show them regional assets and value proposition for future client expansion opportunities.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance (AREA), like many similar organizations across the country, is always hard at work promoting the region and working to increase its competitiveness.

One key way to do this is to invite site selection consultants – experts who specialize in advising expanding or relocating companies in finding the most suitable locations for their investments and operations – for custom, on the ground market tours. Site selection consultants provide location strategy to corporations nationally and internationally across regions and industries. They are tasked with eliminating locations from consideration to identify the best location for their clients in which to expand or relocate. Their considerations include everything from labor cost and availability to transportation, cost and availability of property, quality of life, and overall operational costs and business environment.

“We value these opportunities to showcase what’s happening and can happen in our region,” said Don Terry, AREA’s Board Chair and President and Chief Operating Officer for PNM Resources. “That is one of AREA’s key roles and responsibilities for the region – making sure national decision makers are current on the opportunities in our region.”

Consultants scheduled to participate in the March 2024 AREA Familiarization Tour are traveling to Albuquerque from locations including Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago, South Carolina and Wisconsin.

During their visit to the greater Albuquerque region, they hear an overview of the region at Sawmill Market; listen to a presentation on partnership success stories in the community; listen to a panel of higher education leaders; enjoy a walking tour of Old Town and participate in a panel discussion on site readiness at an AREA Quarterly Luncheon on March 21st at the Embassy Suites. They will, of course, get their fill of green and red chile at signature New Mexican restaurants.

Danielle Casey, President and CEO of AREA, commented “AREA is proud to attend national site selection consultant conferences throughout the year to keep our region top of mind, but there is nothing like showing them our community first-hand. Feedback from tours like this are integral in our continued development of our regional brand, and in ensuring we are delivering the content and material that matters most to decision makers.”
