Named 15th Strongest Metro Economy
According to a recent study released by the Brookings
Institute, the Albuquerque metro economy has the 15th strongest
economy of the nation's largest 100 metro economies for the
first quarter of 2009. The study focused on employment statistics,
wages, gross metropolitan product, and housing data. The Albuquerque
MSA's unemployment rate for Q1 2009 was 6.3% compared to the
national average of 9%, while Albuquerque's average wage rose
by 1.9 percent.
